“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are,” — Carl Jung

The decision to seek therapy usually means you’ve already tried on your own to get a handle on your life.  You may feel exhausted from the effort.

Whatever brings you here, welcome.

I think about my work as the process of helping people to become who they already know they are. We all have an image of our best self. This is the person we’d be if we just weren’t so tired, so anxious, so angry or so depressed. Our work together is to find out why you feel those things in the first place so you can move past them and start feeling happier, more productive and more connected to a life you want.

Finding a therapist that feels like the right fit is important. To see if we might work successfully together, I encourage you to contact me for a free 20-minute consultation. I use these brief sessions to see if it feels to you like we can work together on some of the things that are keeping you from the life you want.

I look forward to hearing from you.

EMDR

I work with men, women and nonbinary people from all walks of life.  If you’re interested in the possibility of working with me, please reach out.  I think of my style as relational and collaborative.  Therapy is a process we’ll engage in together, not something I “do” to you.  Together, we’ll decide on pacing and goals and we’ll establish our own rhythm of working.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a useful tool when talk therapy alone isn't adequate to process physical or relational trauma. When traumatic experiences happen very young, or when the nature of the trauma is overwhelming to the psyche, it can be difficult—impossible, even—to convey what you feel, never mind heal. When this is the case, I use EMDR to metabolize experiences that remain frozen in your body, inaccessible to your conscious mind. This begins a healing process that works from the inside out. By bringing unprocessed material into conscious awareness you become more whole, more integrated and more yourself. Old patterns can loosen their grip and a more coherent sense of self emerges.

Supervision and Consultation

Regular supervision, consultation and ongoing study helps therapists  maintain a level of excellence and enthusiasm for their work. Given this, I pursue my own ongoing training and development and I enjoy working with other clinicians to do the same.  As neuroscience, psychology and counseling theories develop and change, we have the good fortune of ever varied tools and approaches to help people when they seek our services.

I am an approved supervisor with the state of Washington and I enjoy working with new graduates and seasoned clinicians with counseling, social work and psychiatry training.

Consultation Group

I’m conducting ongoing recruitment for a consultation  group aimed at recent graduates (up to 6 years post grad) of counseling and social work programs. The group will be 4-8  members and ideal candidates will be curious about the psychodynamic elements at play in a clinical setting, open to a beginner's mind and seeking community as you begin your clinical career.

My intention is to foster a low-stakes environment where questions can be asked, curiosity explored and ideas challenged. Members will be asked to bring clinical material for group discussion as well as a desire to share something of yourself with fellow group members. Learn more.
